A message from the ELINET Director
Welcome to the Education, Languages, and Internationalisation network.
I set up this network to provide a professional forum to nurture our growing community in the fields of Global Englishes and English Medium Instruction (EMI), two growing sub-fields of Applied Linguistics. The community has grown from strength to strength and we have coordinators and members from across the globe.
We have an ever-growing team of coordinators recruited from all around the globe, who have collated a series of resources. I hope that you will find this to be a useful platform to collaborate and share knowledge. The network aims to benefit a wide range of stakeholders: teachers, researchers, students, materials developers, curriculum planners and members of the public interested in Global Englishes, languages education, internationalisation and English Medium Instruction (EMI).
The network builds on my own interest in the global spread of the English language and associated pedagogical implications. It responds to the need to ensure students are prepared to use the English language in today’s globalised and multilingual world. It aims to facilitate research and curriculum design to teach English as an international language. It also aims to facilitate research, and research-informed practice, in relation to the growing use of English as a medium of instruction (EMI), which has become one of the most significant trends in higher education globally.
I have designed the network to provide a space for our community of practice to exchange educational experiences and ideas, plan curricula and policies and to facilitate dialogue, partnerships, communication, exchange of ideas, resource sharing and research collaboration.
I hope you will find it to be a useful resource and please do get in touch if you would like to join our community. Your feedback on our network is also very valuable to us, so please feel free to share your thoughts.

A message from the Executive Administrator
A warm South African welcome from me too! It is so good to see how the months, indeed years, of hard work and efforts of the amazing ELINET coordinators have finally paid off. In the words of Hannibal Smith, “I love it when a plan comes together!”. To me, ELINET is the opportunity to engage with other teachers and researchers in the combined fields of EMI and GE and I am thankful to be a part of such an exciting network. The Student/Alumni Coordinator Committee and I work hard towards making ELINET accessible to all students.
ELINET already has a global audience, and it is still growing daily. I am so excited about what lies ahead, about future contributions from members all over and more importantly, being a contributing member of this global community.
I am proud of what we have managed to accomplish, and I know that ELINET will be influential in shaping the research, studies and futures, of many students, as it has mine.

A message from the Resources Executive
Welcome from me too! When I first approached the network, I was simply looking for somebody to give me some feedback on my doctoral research project. I joined ELINET before our 1st conference as a member of the theses and dissertations database team, and one thing leading to another, I am now involved in all our resources.
Although I came aboard later than most members, seeing ELINET take shape in the past year has made me very happy. Back when I was a teacher trying to implement a tentative Global Englishes-oriented approach in an EMI context, I could only dream of something like this network. Not just because of the resources it offers, but also because it can allow both academics and practitioners to interact in a way that would otherwise be impossible. I genuinely hope that ELINET may serve as a model to launch similar networks around the world for a variety of educational purposes.
I am going to do my best to ensure that ELINET’s vision for a more equitable diffusion of knowledge and resources become reality. I am really doing all this for my younger self, in the hope of facilitating the lives of students and practitioners who are currently experiencing similar issues in their own contexts.

A message from the Executive Director of the Scientific Committee
I am the Executive Director of the Scientific Committee, a role in which I oversee the strategic planning and implementation of the organization’s annual conference, as well as collaborative events that bring together researchers from a range of scientific disciplines. With a focus on innovation and high standards, I ensure that each event offers valuable insights, networking opportunities, and professional growth for participants. My leadership in these conferences is instrumental in driving forward the connection between the network and its local branches.
In addition to my work organizing conferences, I am deeply committed to integrating early career researchers into the scientific community. I actively design and lead initiatives that support the engagement and development of young scholars, including dedicated sessions, and networking opportunities that allow them to collaborate with established researchers. Through these efforts, I aim to cultivate an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages new voices, fosters skill-building, and nurtures the next generation of scientific leaders. My role is central to creating a collaborative and dynamic community that supports both seasoned professionals and emerging researchers alike, ensuring that the field continues to evolve and thrive.
